donate A Vehicle
Muslim Mobility Donation Program
Muslims need your help
Any Muslim of any age, gender, race, nationality or ethnicity can donate any vehicle to the cause. Any year, make and model of car, coupe, sedan, station wagon, SUV, truck, passenger van, minivan, minibus, shuttle bus, or crossover, can be donated to Muslim Mobility that will put Muslim families in motion. Simply make the request to donate a vehicle here. Make sure you have a clear and clean title for the vehicle and that there are no liens, back taxes, or unpaid registrations due on the vehicle. Be a positive and not negative donor! The vehicles can have a salvage title and do not have to be in running condition, but they cannot be wrecked, damaged, immobile, and must only need minor repairs done to them. Donated vehicles that do not have engines, transmissions, axles, tires, or interiors will more than likely be rejected. Please give unto others what you would want for yourself, your family or your loved ones. If you wouldn’t get into or accept the car you consider donating, why believe that someone else would. Love for your brothers and sisters what you love.
Each donated vehicle is subject to approval by the estimator who looks at current photos and descriptions of the vehicle, or after physical, in person inspection. Upon acceptance, the estimator valuates the vehicle and, at the donor’s request, issues a tax-deductible receipt to the donor for the vehicle’s value. The donor can claim the donation on his or her income tax return. Muslim Mobility will arrange for the tow or removal of the vehicle from the donor’s property at no cost to donor.
Donated vehicles are inspected for roadworthiness; repaired as needed; must pass a smog; gets fueled and detailed; and then is registered and plated at the DMV. The title of the vehicle is then transferred to the new owner. All costs to achieve roadworthiness and registration are covered by Muslim Mobility. Donated vehicles will either be given to successful applicants i.e. Muslim single parent households, couples, or families in need of transportation; sold to the public in order to raise money for Muslim Mobility; or will be used by Muslim Mobility and its staff to transport Muslims to and from Islamic services, schools, medical appointments, and essential errands.
How Donations Are used
- Funds are used to cover the costs of our mission. Included in the use of funds is the payment of salaries and overhead. Just like any institution, overhead, licenses, permits, insurance, rent or lease, utilities, fuel, employees, etc. come with doing business. Even though we are a non-profit, just like the masjid, Islamic center, Islamic school, American Red Cross, Islamic Relief, or any other non-profit organization, Muslim Mobility has to pat the costs of doing business and providing services to those in need. So a portion of all monies received is used to cover these costs. We are keeping it real, sahih, 100, mia fil-miati, and transparent with our Muslim brothers and sisters and any people who donate money or vehicles to Muslim Mobility.
- Funds are used to fix and repair vehicles that are gifted/donated to qualified applicants.
- Funds are used to assist recipients to register, insure and maintain their vehicles, as needed.
- Funds are used to pay drivers to drive qualified applicants around to medical and dental appointments, shopping for necessities, and to and from Islamic services, and when applicable, to and from outings that inure to the psychosocial benefit of the Muslim/Muslimah or family.
- Donated vehicles are:
- Given to and legally transferred to successful applicants;
- Sold to the general public in order to raise money for the cause;
- Placed in the Muslim Mobility motor-pool and used to provide “in-house” transportation services for qualified applicants as described in the previous bullet point.
All of the funds and vehicles donated to Muslim Mobility are precisely recorded and tracked. Our books are available for scrutiny by any donor or any regulatory agency or governmental entity. We do everything fee sabeelillah wa bi ithnillah, so we have absolutely nothing to hide. We answer directly to Allah, Al-A’laa, The Highest Authority in the Heavens and Earth!
